Brian Martin

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Coach

Brian began training martial arts, as an adult, in 2001, discovering Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 2005. He dedicated himself to the martial art shortly after. Brian is a Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under both Professor Mark Stables (Carlson Gracie Mexico) and Professor Omar Salvosa (Carlson Gracie Toronto) training for many years, under both instructors, all while under the supervision of Maestre Marcus Soares (Carlson Gracie Canada). Brian is the lead BJJ instructor here at Balance MMA. Brian began teaching BJJ in 2012 and has since, been working on perfecting teaching as his craft. He is a graduate candidate at the University of Toronto’s Ontario Institute for Study in Education (OISE). Brian has been fortunate to have had the opportunity to train under high-level practitioners from across North America, Europe and the UK, Japan and Brazil and has developed a unique teaching style, thanks, in-part, to the wide array of influences on both his technique, and his approach to teaching.
